BSidesDayton 2022 Wrap-up

First off, I just wanted to give a huge thank you to all of the DEFCON 937 members! BSidesDayton was a lot of work, and it would not have happened and went as smoothly as it did without their support.

It was a lot of work to pull off this event. There were many hours spent planning, setting up, running and tearing down.

I would also like to thank all of the sponsors who helped make a huge impact on the event.

This was our biggest conference we have ever put on and we definitely learned quite a bit. There were a few things that weren’t perfect or that didn’t turn out as expected, but overall the conference was a success.

Out of the 80 tickets that were sold, there were 60 people who attended. This is almost triple the number of people who attended the first BSidesDayton in 2019. We’ve grown a lot in the last few years and we’re hoping to continue to grow. We have received quite a bit of feedback about things that went well and people liked. We have also received feedback on things that didn’t go as well and need to be better for next year. One prime example is voicing in the back of the room traveling to the front of the room. We have already come up with ideas and solutions to fix most of the issues that were brought up.

If you were unable to attend the conference or watch the livestream, all of the talks have been uploaded to the DEFCON 937 YouTube channel.

Next year, we are planning on trying to grow the conference to 200 attendees. It’s going to be a lot of work but we’re confident we can make it happen. As of right now, we are planning on sticking to four speakers. We have not picked a venue for 2023 yet. We’re looking at quite a few places, including where we had it this year.

We will be sure to keep everyone posted on updates as they come in for 2023 on the BSidesDayton Twitter and LinkedIn.

We are planning more conference for 2023! If you are interested in sponsoring one of our conferences or BSidesDayton, please feel free to reach out to us and we would love to give you more information.

Thanks!
