The Zen of Pentesting

There are many courses, training, and certs for pentesting. Beyond the books, tools and how-too's there are many pitfalls and chaos encountered. The "Zen of Pen" looks at this and some ways to know and handle the chaos.

Lend me your IR's!

Protecting systems and networks as a tech defender means withstanding a constant barrage of unsophisticated attacks from automated tools, botnets, crawlers, exploit kits, phish kits, and script kiddies; oh my! Occasionally, we encounter attacks worthy of style points for creativity or new twists on old attack techniques. This talk features demoed reenactments from some advanced attacks investigated by the presenter. The demos showcase technical deep dives of the underpinnings from both the attacker and investigator sides of these attacks. Attendee key takeaways are strategies, freely available tools, and techniques helpful during incident response investigations.

Jeremy Hong

Hardware Hacker, Ham Radio Operator (KD8TUO), Reverse Engineer, Owner and consultant at Hong's Electronics, LLC

HSA eligible hardware hacking: IoT devices you can buy with your benefits

Sometimes the best hardware hacking targets come from the most unexpected of places. In my case I was looking to buy a first aid kit for my lab and was going to use my HSA (Health Savings Account) funds. What I stumbled upon when browsing through a HSA eligible products marketplace/store was a Wi-Fi connected male fertility test kit, and later on a baby monitor that connects to Wi-Fi and has bluetooth socks to monitor vitals. The best part about this is that I used my tax deferred savings to hack IoT devices!

Mike A

Mike is a veteran in the information security space and has been digging in deep into the internals of Windows.

Dude where's my file system minifilter?

File system mini filters are a widely-deployed solution with EDR/XDR products. This talk serves to explore the attack surface of mini filters, and mitigation techniques.
